United Healthcare has acknowledged that service type codes of 30 & 98 will not return specialist co-pays. To obtain specialist co-pays, UHC now requires a service type code of 96. (Posted 6/25/2013 @ 12:50 PM ET)

IMPORTANT MESSAGE

Medicare is restricting the number of times an NPI can query a particular Subscriber ID in a day, providing they’ve received a successful response (Active or Inactive coverage response). If this is exceeded they can suspend the NPI from all queries to their system. If the NPI is suspended it causes complications in our system, so to prevent that from occurring, our platform now checks to see if a request has already been successful for that subscriber ID on that NPI that day. Unfortunately, CMS’s rules do not allow for querying different dates of service, so it is vital that providers run eligibility requests specifically for the date/date range involved.

If you receive the following error: “The number of eligibility requests sent to Medicare for this NPI and Member ID combination has exceeded CMS policy for today”, this means the patient was already successfully processed the same day. Click on Quick Search and search for the successful response by Member ID. ( Updated Post on 2/2/2016 at 11:13 AM EST)
